Rock-Papers-Scissors Tournament

*Thanks to the Model UN club at St. Joseph High School for this idea

The title basically explains it all: have a rock-paper-scissors tournament! It’s simple, fun, and gaining ground in popularity. (Nowadays, ESPN actually has rock-paper-scissors matches!) Charge a specific amount, say $1, for students to participate, and pair students up randomly. It’s usually a good idea to play to the best out of three, and give everyone at least two games of rock-paper-scissors. For example, set up two brackets, one where the winners go to determine the champion and one where the losers go to determine the consolation prize winner.

Tips: Perhaps you may want to have the tournament at lunch instead of before or after school. Because most schools have more than one lunch, play until there is a winner for each lunch, and have the winners compete in a final showdown right after school.

Homecoming Queen/King:
Teacher’s Edition

So nearly every school crowns a homecoming king and queen, but this year, in addition to that, crown a homecoming king and queen teacher. Have members of your Key Club nominate 5-10 teachers for both categories, and then charge the student body a specific
amount (my school Student Senate charged $.10 per vote), and allow student to vote multiple times. Announce the king and queen at a pep assembly or the football homecoming game. Of course, like student royalty, make the teacher king and queen wear crowns and banners and be sure to get lots of photos for the school newspaper and yearbook!
